In 2012, 22-year-old FMI left her home town of Hargeisa, Somalia, in search of opportunities to support her poor family. She travelled to Bosaso, found a job as maid, and regularly sent money home. A year later, FMI married and started a family of her own. But as soon as she delivered her first child, her husband abandoned her. At first, FMI managed to raise her baby daughter in Bosaso.
