National Mental Health Programme in Lebanon
The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) in Lebanon has been providing mental health services through inpatient care and provision of psychotropic medications for many years.
Building on this experience and on the need to scale up services especially with more than 1 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the MOPH, under the direction of the Director General Dr. Walid Ammar, pulled together efforts done by different local and international mental health actors and launched a national mental health programme aiming to promote mental health in Lebanon and to ensure better mental health service provision to all persons living in the country.
